The Ultimate Appetizer Challenge FAQ

How do I submit my entry?

Complete the online entry form or send your entry to recipes@bigchefonline.com with the following:

Your name, address/contact information, the recipe and a photo of the actual finished product.

How many times can I enter the competition?

Entrants are allowed and encouraged to submit as many recipes as desired.

What happens to my recipe once it is submitted?

After it is reviewed by our Judging panel for appropriateness, quality and overall appeal it will then be given a ranking from 1-5 stars with 5 stars being the highest. All 5 star recipe submissions will then be prepared by the Chefs of BigChef for taste/visual appeal/ease of preparation.  Recipes who meet the BigChef Standards are again ranked from 1-5 stars. All 5 star recipes will be considered finalists.  The top three winners will be chosen from these submissions.

All recipes that are given a 3, 4 or 5 star rating regardless of whether or not they win the final challenge will be included in our upcoming eBook: "The Ultimate Appetizer." Everyone who enters the challenge will be given a complimentary copy of "The Ultimate Appetizer" once it has been published (Est. publication date September 1st)

How are the winners selected?

The judging panel will consist of our own in-house chefs and other food professionals assigned by BigChef. First, all entries are screened to make sure that the contest rules are followed. The panel will then select the most appealing recipes and prepare them in our kitchen for the ultimate taste test. The top appetizers according to the judging criteria of creative use of ingredients, taste, ease of preparation and visual appeal are chosen as our top three winners.

What are the categories?

While only 3 winners will be chosen, they can come from a number of categories. You may submit an appetizer recipe in any of the following categories: 
Breaded-Crusted
Dim Sum
Empanadas - Tortillas
Fillo - Phyllo
Puff Pastry
Skewers
Other - anything that does not fit in the above categories goes here

What are the competition dates/deadlines?

The Ultimate Appetizer Challenge will run from July 15th through Midnight August 15, 2011. Winners will be notified by August 21, 2011

If I win, how will I be notified?

Winners will be notified by email, phone and traditional mail Winners are also announced on the BigChef Blog, on our social media sites and in our newsletters


What personal information do I need to provide to participate in the recipe challenge?
BigChef asks that you provide your first and last name, phone number, email, address and date of birth (month/year - all participants must be 18 years of age).
